Every winter Humpback Whales migrate from their feeding grounds in Antartica along the West Australian coast to warmer birthing and breeding grounds.
The Ningaloo Reef bursts into life, with acrobatic displays as these magnificent mammals launch themselves above the surface of the water. Touted as the Humpback highway, the reef provides the whales newly born calves with protection from predators.
This spectacular moment was captured from a small stationary vessel. Allowing me to get close to the water as these whales approached us.
