Hello there!
First of all welcome to my website and subsequent first blog post.
Getting this website live and my print store polished and ready for sale has been a long yet rewarding process. While it has been a long time coming, I truly look forward to using this platform not only to make some of my favorite prints available for purchase, but also to share with you all a little bit more about myself.
In a world of fast and furious content consumption, it can be difficult at times to maintain what I feel to be a genuine connection with you all.
I have always enjoyed writing and sharing my passion through this medium I believe allows me to dive deeper into that.
I hope that whilst helping you get to know a bit more about me through these blogs, I can also help to share some of my knowledge and stories to pay forward the blessing’s a life as a wildlife cameraman has given me and all the while inspire some of you to get out there and experience the wonder of our natural world along the way.
So without further adieu, the difficult part.. Talking.. About.. Myself..
Let's start with the basics and see if I can get a flow going shall we?
As I’m sure you have already established, my name is Tom Cannon. I was originally born in England, and when I was 13 yrs old I moved with my family to Melbourne, Australia.
Many summers have passed since then, and it would be safe to say that if you wanted to judge a book by its cover, or a birth country based on an accent, you would easily mistake for me someone that was born and raised in Australia.
I’m proud to say that I have dual citizenship and am very thankful to my parents for bringing me to this magnificent country all of those years ago.
Skipping forward many years to now, I sit writing to you as a dedicated and passionate wildlife cameraman and storyteller. There have been many twists and turns in my career that have led me to this point, more on this in another blog, but I am proud to say that I’m giving chase to my dreams a red hot crack!
Following an 8 year stint working full time and managing a professional underwater photography service on Whale Shark, Manta Ray and Humpback whale tourism boats on the Ningaloo Reef. I have now decided to step out into the world and continue chasing my dreams, have the freedom to run more expeditions in my dream destinations and tell more stories and grow more as a human being.
Truth be told, I had neglected to take this time for myself over recent years, therefore building this website, refining some of my favorite images for print and now writing this blog is the first step in that direction.
There is so much to share from the journey so far, and much to be excited for in what is ahead in the future.
I can’t wait to spend more time writing these blogs and I hope that you come along for the ride with me.
If you haven’t already, I invite you to subscribe to my email list. I will be sharing updates on my upcoming expeditions and of course more of these blogs over time.
Thank you for reading, keep smiling and have a wonderful day!
Tom
